So the biggest news of the new season might not be Paula leaving or Ellen joining. It might just be that this will be the victory lap for Simon Cowell who will be leaving American Idol after the season to start an American version on his hit The X Factor. While this is stunning news for Idol fans, it could be a blessing in disguise. We’ll still get to see Simon on Fox and Idol could drop a peg, allowing it to tone down a bit on the “bad” and become more about finding the best talent. Then The X Factor could be another huge hit that gave us more stars. Who knows how it will pan out, but we can dream, right?
Another wonderful, inspiring performance from YOUR 2009 American Idol Adam Lambert. U2 was a fabulous choice and his spin was nice. It had a Mad World feel and while I don’t think it quite lived up to that (my personal fav), it was definitely a hot one and in a league of his own. Simon made a WONDERFUL choice.
This week on Idol each contestant will sing a song picked by the judges (AKA Simon) and on of their choosing. Adam says he’ll be singing U2’s “The One”. This should be a great pick for Adam.

This is THE best performance of this years Idol and very likely will be the moment, when looking back, people say was THE turning point. Last week, Adam’s controversial take on another classic, Ring of Fire, had everyone buzzing. This weeks “Tracks of My Tears” has everyone in awe. All the judges LOVED Adam, including SIMON, who said it was the best of the night. The girls love him as usual! But do you? Which female judge is your favorite?
