And the Winner is…

Kris Allen. Congrats Kris.

Kris Allen might be as shocked as anyone

Kris Allen might be as shocked as anyone

We love you Adam! And you were incredibly gracious in defeat. I think you showed your true character and we are proud.

I think many were right… It did come down to Adam and Danny… But not in the way it was intended. Danny’s huge following had to pick someone… And the Danny fans disliked Adam from the start… It was the classic take sides. When Kris overtook Danny for the final slot, the Danny fans followed.

That’s not to take anything away from Kris. He was adored by the target audience and had some awesome perforances. He’s a great musician and I think he’ll do very well.

But I still think America got it wrong. And I KNOW an international superstar was born on this season of American Idol.

As they say, this is only the beginning. There’s much bigger and greater things coming for Adam Lambert!

And he doesn’t have to record and sing that HIDEOUS song that Kara wrote 234234234 times… Thanks GOD!

I have been a huge Adam fan since the beginning and really wanted him to win, but this blog post made me feel a lot better about Kris winning… They are sooo right. Kris is the “true” American Idol. Adam is a bit above that, so it’s kind of nice that Kris won. Like you said, Adam is destined to be an international superstar (it would be crazy if he didn’t succeed tremendously!) which is not the case with most American Idol winners…

  • leftofcenter Says:

Adam was very gracious in Chris’ win, and deserves the superstardom coming his way. For me the big win of the night was Adam singing with Queen :)

I look forward to great things from Adam.

And you are SOOO right about that horrific Idol song. Poor Chris.

  • Xoch Says:

I really wanted Adam to win. I love his style! When he sang with KISS it was awesome, and that’s right, he cant be an american idol, because he will be an international idol. I hope to hear soon about him and a record. About Kris, he just wasn’t as excited as I expected, I felt his reaction with no emotion…but Adam YOU ROCK!!!!!!

  • Bobbi Says:

That’s what sold me about Adam; his character and awesome range. This is like the Reubens/Atkins thing. Atkins goes on to stardom, Reuben to ???

  • bluebird Says:

Adam’s genuine happiness for Kris set him apart in many ways last night. He is truly unique in many ways and a fantastic artist. I think he is a better singer than all of the Idols. He is even better than some current recording artists. I think the American Idol title and record contract restrictions, yes, that hideous song, would have held him back. Now he has fame and hopefully a record contract to follow where he can truly express himself without limitations. Congratulations Adam and Kris !!

  • Trish Says:

Bluebird, you are absolutely right – the American Idol contract restrictions would have definitely crammed Adam’s style. After I saw him up on stage with Queen, all I could think of was Adam on tour with the old guys ripping Freddy Mercury licks to the world – that would be awesome! You could see Brian May’s reaction to Adam’s voice! And the number with KISS was just so fabulously outrageous. That was absolutely the best AI show EVER and they will have one heckuva time trying to repeat this season in the future. Lots of talent all around. Speaking of talent, I don’t see where Kara has any – that song is just a muck of bad. She’s gotta go. At least Adam doesn’t have to record it. Actually, nobody should record it….Congrats to Adam and Kris!

  • adam turned me into an idol fan Says:

Adam, you are just too amazing for anyone to “own” you. I think Kris can be much more easily controlled, molded and marketed by the network(s) where Adam will make it on his own in his own way, at his own pace. Adam will NEVER be old news or left behind!

  • Kara Patton Says:

That song should get Kara the boot, what a horrible pain to inflict upon the ears!!! However, if Adam sang it, I’d buy it anyway! He was truly the best thing to ever grace that stage and he has a fan forever here. As for American Idol, I’ll never watch the show again! I said that from the beginning, if Adam didn’t win, I was done. His performances made me jones for Tuesday nights! Now I can look forward to the album as I listen to all the itunes performances of his over and over… and over!!!

  • Tim Says:

It’s Chris Daughtry / Clay Aiken all over again. I’m sure Adam will be smiling all the way to the bank. And he deserves it. And I thought David Cook had an impressive vocal range! I wish him nothing but the best, and I’m sure that’s what America will give him. Well, at least the states outside the Bible Belt!

  • Arkansas Girl Says:

Adam lost because Kris is from Arkansas, plain and simple. Adam is clearly the bigger talent, but California has so many celebrities, they felt no overall sense of “ownership” over him. Arkansas has so few celebrities, they latched onto Kris Allen like a pit bull. Once they locked their jaws on, there was no letting go.

I had one friend who voted over 9000 times!! Arkansans just went bonkers voting for Kris.

I like Kris very much, but I couldn’t vote for him, since Adam is the better talent. I guess I’m just not feeling the Arkansas solidarity, lol.

The good thing in all this is the absolutely sweet friendship that has developed between the two of them. It appeared to me that Kris actually felt bad about winning, and that Adam was nothing more than gracious. They understand each other, and they know exactly what happened, I think.

Many people are saying Adam lost because he is gay. In reality, he lost because Kris was from Arkansas (crazy as that sounds!). If Kris had been from a different state, I think Adam would have won.

  • BigBearyFairy Says:

I always pick the guy who comes in second, from Clay to Blake to Archuleta, and now to Adam. I have a perfect record for the seasons I’ve watched. It’s actually a blessing to come in second.

  • SANDY Says:

I THINK ADAM IS ON HIS WAY TO A BRIGHT FUTURE, REMEMBER THAT THIS MAY BE A LOST BUT ALL IS NOT YET OVER. I KNOW U WILL BE SUCCESSFUL. GOD BLESS YOU. THE NAME ADAM IS VERY SIGNIFICANT IN CHRISTAIN HISTORY, SO THERE ARE NO BOUNDARIES. GREAT TALENT!

  • Denver Says:

Yes, I think the tweens, which are the majority of the voters gave Kris the title. I am older and didn’t text and tried for about an hour to vote for Adam, with many many busy signals… When you have kids with times and texts, the results are not really ‘normal’. I would like to see a limit on the number of votes from a number, like Dancing with the Stars goes and half of the results from the judges, who is was obvious gave the title to Adam.

  • Paige Says:

Adam is a bright and shining star! I can’t wait to buy his album, and I know that he’ll be the successful one in the music industry. Kris will fade away just like Jordin What’s-her-name. It would have been a curse to actually win, because Adam would have had to record that horrid song Kara wrote. What a train wreck that was!!!

  • Kareen Says:

I am a Greenhorn when it comes to music, but I watched Adam from the beginning and enjoyed every performance even sometimes when the song was not my cup of tea.
Now that he lost I still think Adam Lambert will be an International STAR, while Kris will sing mostly at Country Fairs.

  • Sandra Starkey Says:

I am so glad I am not the only one who HATED that song!! Neither performed it well, because, well the song just sucked! Being biased, I think Adam did better than Chris, but well I just love him, his voice, his stage presence. Most of his performances gave me chills. His range is so freaking incredible! AI was but a drop in the bucket for his music career. He will go farther and faster than Chris could EVER hope to!

  • lioness swimmer Says:

I am enjoying these comments! Bluebird, you nailed it: Adam would’ve been restricted to mediocrity. His light, talent and evolved PRESENCE clearly set him apart. Adam is centered in grace, refinement, love–which are all reflected through his crafted skills and talent, which he has developed with care over time.
I wish Adam continuing support, internal centeredness and balance as he expresses his gifts. He is already a star. Now, sustainability and a joyful career and life are key. Adam is love incarnate. Stay healthy, Light Being!

  • Caylin Says:

I love Adam so much, I love everything from the guyliner, to the nail polish, to his crazy-rocker bangs. I was taking a sip of water when they said KRIS ALLEN!!! and I nearly choked. I cryed, I even accused it of being rigged, LOL. Even thought Adam didn’t win, I know he will do very well in the future, and I can’t wait to see him on the tour.

Adam one of the most humble contestants ever on the show, well, David Cook was too. But Adam was my man this season.

  • Mike Says:

My congrats and respect go to Kris. He is a fine Worship Leader and will make a fine “coffee house” CD that I will not purchase in the future. Adam shares what happened to Chris Daughtry and will no doubt go down the same successful path as Daughtry only with maybe even more success. Adam, get some great tunes and a great band. You are not only a very talented singer but a true entertainer. I recognised your amazing ability from the start. You made that Johnny Cash tune rock! I stated early on that you would kill singing Queen material and who appears on the finale show? Queen! It’s almost like the producers talored the show to feature you. Thinking you would win. Did they get James Taylor so Kris could weave his way through coffee house music? No. I am a bit disappointed at all the youngsters who over voted with their little cell phones. The show should regulate votes and have an ID system in place to accept only one vote per phone number. Voters even boasted that hey voted 100 times for Kris. Is that a fair system? No it isn’t. But hey, you both are winners in the end. From what I saw, you could easily sing Kris’ material but he could never equal your performaces or material choosen. You are in a different league than Kris and the best Idol singer was not recognised but you did win the recognition that somehow until now had evaded you and your talent. Like Randy said, “You can sing your face off”! My only word after most of your performances was, “incredible”! Don’t ever loose the faith and the gift you were given!

  • Denise Says:

I would fly to Vegas to see Adam in concert! Can’t wait for his album. The most talented, charismatic, energetic, innovative singer I have heard in years. Loved every performance, and am bummed out I don’t have that to look forward to weekly. Kris performing is like watching paint dry. BORING!

  • rc Says:

absolutely .. Adam is the real winner and the World Idol – can’t wait for his first world tour – he has such international appeal – please come to Europe soon !!!! Believe he is going to be huge -and agree that although I was originally disappointed it is a blessing in disguise.. he will not fade into the background like some of the winners in the past. Go Adam !! Onto bigger and better things.. the world really is your oyster.

  • Louise Says:

Adam…thank you for the memories! You have been awesome and unique right from the very beginning. You are a class act all the way and all your loyal fans will wait patiently for your first album. Take care and just remember this is the first day of your amazing new life!!

  • Karla Says:

I voted for Adam from the start. Each week I couldn’t wait to see what he brought to the table. He was wonderful with Kiss and Queen but if he wanted to last night with Queen he could have took that song way beyond Chris ever thought. I was thinking how Adam must have felt singing with two great all time bands.
Chris I can’t see me going out to buy his CD but I can’t wait for Dannys to come out. I looked at my husband last night told him “wow” I hope his new marriage makes it..

  • Baillie Says:

I had a feeling that this would happen. I tried to vote for Adam as many times as I could but I just couldn’t get through. I’m kinda sad he didn’t win, but also thankful. Someone out there will see the potential money that Adam has and pick him up on the spot. He’s probably already got offers as it is. I mean, who would sell more records with? Kris or Adam? That’s what it comes down to.

  • 1AdamFan Says:

It’s a “Mad World”, Adam. You give me a “Whole Lotta Love” while you “Play That Funky Music”. I vote forever for you and still “I Can’t Get No Satisfaction”. I can clearly see the “Track Of My Tears” because “If I Can’t Have You, Then I Don’t Want Nobody, Baby”. I am not “Feelin’ Good” right now, in fact I’m “Cryin’.” But things are never “Black Or White” and right from the start I have been deep in the “Ring Of Fire” with you. You were “Born To Be Wild” and believe this “One” thing, “A Change Is Gonna Come” for you. And I am ever grateful that your career will definitely have “No Boundaries”.

My Rock heart will always belong to you, Adam

  • Fan55 Says:

“It feels good, but Adam deserves this.”

    Kris knows.

    America knows.

    The world knows.

  • random Says:

I think that Kris Allen very much deserved to win. He can sing anything you put infront of him, meanwhile, all Adam can do is give out that little signature girly screech. In my opinion, Adam was just another wannabe-rockstar. At first, he was good, but after a few shows his head blew up and he turned into a cocky kiss-up. Kris can sing everything and has a very likeable personality. Plus the relationship he has with his wife makes him so adorable. And he looks so innocent and fresh. When Adam sang with KISS, he looked like he was trying to be the next Marilyn Manson.

  • Amber Victor Says:

    I knew Adam wouldn’t ‘win’.
Oh but he did! He is much better then being tied to a contract as Ford’s poster boy. This could not have worked out better for him. He knows it. If he wanted to come in ‘1st place’ he would have.

  • Cindy Says:

I love the way the person used all of Adam’s songs to write a paragraph about him. You can also put the word Believe in quotations because he also sang “Believe” by Cher. I think Adam was the best but really he could not have come in second to a nicer guy. I think Adam and Kris are the best people ever to be on American Idol. Adam will be a worldwide superstar.

  • Alexis Says:

Ok well….Im like so shocked that Adam didnt win!!! I loved him from the beging!! But im really happy that kris won because he had like no self cofentes and Adam did….but Im telling you that Adam is going to be like Chris from 2 years ago! Kris and Adam can sing but im pulling more for Adam then Kris but i love them both!!

  • Michael Says:

I watched this season in Germany with one day delay and couldn’t help thinking that the homecoming video they showed before the vote had an impact on the voters. Kris’ bit was so emotional with his father and family while Adams seemed a bit generic. He should have won though…

  • Mary Jo Says:

Like everyone else I am still in a state of shock. Adam you are the American Idol in my book. People everywhere are calling this a BIG mistake. Adam brought sooo much joy and excitement to the competition this season and I couldn’t wait to watch it each week. Adam I know you are going to be successful and I wish you every bit of the success you so rightfully deserve. You did deserve the title and many of us will never get over the fact of what happened last night. We love you!!

  • Kareen Says:

    Baillie
Adam does already have offers, but he wouldn’t say what they are. He is much too polite to answer that question when Kris was celebrated.

Yes Kris is a nice young man, but American Idol is not to find the nicest person but an Idol and Kris is no Idol. Slinging a guitar around your neck and sing like many others is no IDOL
Adam was robbed, but thats ok. I agree he probably is better of

  • Barbara Says:

I am a grandmother (youngish) from Australia and after watching Adam wow us every week with his talent and pure vocals I became hooked on the show from the start. I admit I was so defalted when he didn’t win and was thinking about it a lot until I read some of the comments here and now I see it may be a better result for him so we can all share in his success as he makes what i know will be a worldwide star! Adam you must have made your family and fans so proud last night. YOU ROCK!!

  • Terri Says:

I have been following Adam ever since he was on The Next Great American Band with the group Dot…Dot…Dot. He has amazing voice control and originality. I was only slightly disappointed he didn’t win because he gets to walk away and start doing his own thing right away. No contracts to fulfill other than the Idol Tour. The show was so amazing last night that crowning the Idol was anti-climatic. We will being seeing Adam do great things real soon. What a fantastic run he had!

  • Lyndsay Says:

I was actually really happy that Adam lost. I mean I like him and that’s why. He’s going to get a record deal with way more freedom than the Idol one. And he doesn’t have to have that HORRIBLE No Boundaries song on his album.

  • betcrml Says:

WAKE UP PEOPLE,I CAN FEEL GOOD AGAIN. JUST READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT ADAM TOURING WITH KISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS, ADAM,I SURE HOPE YOU TAKE HIM UP ON HIS OFFER BECAUSE IT WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU EVER DID!!! WHAT A CONCERT THAT WOULD BE. IF HE WOULD HAVE WON HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS( I don’t think) GREAT THINGS CAN HAPPEN IT WILL BE AWSOME, LOVE IT LOVE IT, SO DON’T WORRIE BE HAPPY PEOPLE!!

  • Luna Mystica Says:

    Kris Allen sucks
Adam Lambert is far more better than Kris
Start quality, musicality, stage presence Adam has it
    Kris Allen is so boring

  • emilysingz Says:

Adam is the best technical singer that has ever appeared on Idol. His level of control is akin to an opera or acoustical singer. VERY legit sound overall. Adam is also a great performer, a true entertainer. Coming in second is the best thing that has ever happened to him. He gained exposure, and a strong fan base without having to be a slave to the A.I. machine. Adam was incredibly gracious, and so was Kris. It warmed my heart to see two competitors who showed more class then we’ve seen on television in a long time. And yes, the final song was terribly written.

  • AbbieLeigh Says:

I Think Adam And Kris Were Both Very Awesome! Being From Arkansas I Wanted Kris To Win, But I Don’t Have A Doubt In My Mind That They Will Both Succeed Very Much! So Here To Adam & Kris- Good Luck To You Both And I Enjoyed Watching Both Of You Perform This Season! I Hope To See Lots More From you Guys!

  • true winner Says:

Yes, I was dissapointed to hear he didn’t win this season and the first positive thing I could think of was the same as yours, he doesn’t have to record that stupid song. So hopefully soon he’ll get time for studio…I have been waiting for that since the beginning of the season!

  • Kareen Says:

    betcrml
Not sure touring with KISS is the right thing for Adam to do.
They are not my favourite group and I think Adam has more talent than they deserve, but I guess you like them.

  • IA Lost Viewer Says:

I just say – this is the first AND the last season I will watch the popularity contest known as “American Idol.” Adam won the contest the FIRST day it was on – period. He will go farther than ANYONE else – winner or not. I was SO shocked by the outcome. I don’t know if I was more upset that he actually lost or of all the time I wasted watching the show for a whole season. It won’t happen again. I wish Kris the best of luck – but that song was AWFUL!! LOL Glad to know I’m not the only one who thought that. Adam will ALWAYS be the winner at our house and we WILL buy every album he puts out!!

  • Liz Says:

I am not shocked that Adam did not win, the better singer & performer on American Idol nevers wins. It’s young kids who vote over & over, while the older working class individuals do not vote. Adam deserved this win. There were many other Idols this season that were better than Kris.

  • Sierra Says:

two words. Fucking shit. (pardon the language)

  • Christie Says:

I am glad that he didn’t win. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Adam, but he will do better things with his career as a front man and not as a pop-ish solo star. The whole glam-rock-sexy rockstar is typically the front man of a band and not a solo star holding it down on stage on his own… and even if no one pays attention to the rest of the band. When he started singing Beth, he stood out and got your attention, but his look, feel and drive really shined as he mixed with the Kiss band members out there on stage and it was so much more “right”. He’ll be around a lot longer if he gets to do things on his own terms and not with the American Idol branding… he will be respected more in the rock/glam industry and I think he will have longevity and success regardless if he won or not… Plus one great thing that came out of him winning is how much humility and grace he showed after the announcement.

  • amèlia Says:

this is so unfair , there were a lot of stars in the show who deserve to win more than kris ,and ADAM !!, are you kidding me ! he is the best of the best! , he have it all , an he didin’t win , that sucks , but i stiil think that he is the real winner in the show , i love you adam , rock on! we love you so much! we are waiting for more!

  • Jan Says:

I cannot believe the result – Adam is just the best. I picked him out in the first audition round and watched every week. To me he is the epitomy of music, no matter what he sang it was truly wonderful. It was obvious to everyone watching the final that Adam was the winner with a superior voice to everyone in the competition. Kris was no comparison. I know he will be a star for many many years to come. Cant wait to start buying his albums. Despite my age he is truly a great and handsome star.

  • Silence Says:

Adam has said so many times that all he wanted was the exposure–and he got it.

I’m somewhat glad we (meaning all of us Lambs) made 2nd place. Like you said, now his isn’t stuck recording that oh-so-not Adam song a million times over.

  • random Says:

I can’t stand you people. Humans never like to face the truth. History has proven that no matter who wins what, people always whine. Had it been the other way around, a lot of people would have been upset as well. JUST LET IT GO!!! A few months back, nobody even cared who they were; they were just like everybody else. Now, everyone is making such a huge deal out of it. You can’t do ANYTHING about it so stop being a bunch of cry-babies. For those of you who say you don’t care because Adam will get further without American Idol, you OBVIOUSLY DO care if you keep mentioning it. If he didn’t win, he obviously wasn’t the most popular. And in my opinion, Adam looks a lot more modern, had it been that everyone voted on looks, he probably would have won. So, that goes to show that Allen deserved it. I’m not going to lie, Adam could sing, but with that “I know I’m going to win because I’m better than everyone here” attitude, no one would want to vote for him, except for maybe the people who are that way themselves.
